Speed Networking Success Tips
The idea of speed networking originated with speed dating. Now it has become a very productive way to increase your customer base and build new business relationships. Social Register Las Vegas does speed networking in a unique way. We begin by socializing over cocktails and then move to a great dinner. After dinner, we move to the speed networking. Imagine you are sitting across from another decision maker. Your knees are almost touching. You each have two to three minutes. Then one row moves while the other stays stationary.
3 Easy Ways to Make the Most of those Two to Three Minutes
1. A good strong handshake and eye contact. Body language matters. This is a first impression. Be confident, remember to smile and speak clearly. (Don’t drink too much during the socializing.) Remember to bring lots of business cards with you. Be professional even if you are dressed causally. Always put your name tag on the righthand side. (That way when you shake hands, people will associate your name with your face.)
2. Come prepared with your two to three minute introduction. What is the most important message you want to get across in that two to three minutes? What is your unique selling proposition? What makes you stand out? Know who your customer is.
3. You are not there to sell or be sold to. You are there to build a relationship. Regardless if you need their product or service at the present time, you want to discuss how you can help each other in business. Ask to set up another meeting over lunch, coffee, or drinks. Or schedule a call or perhaps invite them to your office. Make it easy and convenient to build upon the initial relationship. Don’t jump right in and ask for referrals. They need to get to know you and your company first. Take the word “referral” out of your vocabulary completely. Instead, use the word “introduction.” Notice the difference in the way you react to those two different words.
Social Register Las Vegas is committed to providing a professional environment conducive to building trusted relationships among decision makers. Speed networking is one of the unique ways we bring decision makers together. These are individuals who have consumer and/or business to business needs. They are the executives who write the checks and make the decisions.
